The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment is sponsoring the Consortium for Older Adult Wellness (COAW) to offer an instructor training class in Stepping On, an evidence-based exercise program to help older adults improve balance and prevent falls.

Dates:        July 29-31, 2013

Time:          830 am to 430 pm
Location:     Denver Metro area, exact location to be determined
Cost:           Free*
After completion of the training, we would like your commitment to teach at least two classes before July 2014, and to schedule additional workshops in 2014-2015.

Stepping On workshops are offered as weekly two-hour sessions for seven weeks, and a group booster session three months later. In a small group setting, older adults engage in building self-confidence, making decisions and adding safety strategies to their everyday life. The two trained Leaders facilitate the discussions and provide resources. The Leaders will also arrange for Guest Experts to lead segments in the areas of exercise, vision, medications, and community safety.
