Webinar: Fall-Related TBIs Among Older Adults

Wednesday, September 30, 2015, 12:00-1:00 p.m. ET

Every 13 seconds an older adult is treated in the emergency room for a fall. Falls are the second leading cause of traumatic brain injury (TBI) hospitalizations overall and the leading cause of TBI hospitalizations among persons aged 65 and older. This webinar, sponsored by the National Association of State Head Injury Administrators (NASHIA) in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Injury Center, will provide information on the Injury Center’s efforts to reduce falls among older adults and States’ efforts to identify TBI within in the older adult population. Featured speaker will be Grant Ballwin, PhD, MPH, Director of the Division of Unintentional Injuries, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This session will also feature work conducted or being conducted by Massachusetts and Nebraska to screen, identify and address issues associated with TBI among older adults.

This webinar is being offered to both NASHIA members and non-members, free of charge, as space allows. NASHIA archives all webinars on its webpage for future viewing.
